How can I volunteer?

You are welcome to volunteer at CETEC Forma in Panajachel or at one of our five learning centers serving rural communities throughout Sololá.

If we can give something for our community, for these girls, for these boys, why not?

A career in medicine is not an impossible dream — Vilma has proven that it can be achieved.

What could I do?

You could help with conversational English, computer skills, mathematics, or reading activities at CETEC Forma Panajachel, a school created to provide dignified, high-quality education for students from rural communities. You may also participate in our learning centers and support a variety of educational and community projects, depending on your interests, experience, and abilities. Your involvement can make a meaningful difference in helping students expand their opportunities and strengthen their future.

Who we support?

We choose scholarship students for the Forging My Tomorrow School beginning in seventh grade, based on their motivation, work ethic, leadership potential, and financial need. Most come from low-income rural communities where educational opportunities are limited, and many have parents who cannot read or write.

Despite these challenges, they believe education is the key to transforming their future. Without this opportunity, many would be forced to leave school because of economic hardship. Through our five-year program, students develop skills in English, technology, and leadership, empowering them to create new opportunities for themselves, their families, and their communities — and ultimately helping to break the cycle of poverty.

What items could I donate?

We are always in need of Spanish children's books, notebooks, pencils, puzzles, dominoes, toothbrushes, toothpaste, crayons, girls' cardigans, jackets, shoes, and laptops.

Why do you call it "forging my tomorrow":

Giving someone temporary support can create dependence. Teaching them how to forge their own tomorrow creates independence, confidence, and lasting opportunity.

When young people gain the education, skills, and belief in themselves to shape their own future, they are empowered to achieve their dreams through their own efforts. Our goal is not simply to help children today, but to equip them to build a better tomorrow for themselves, their families, and their communities.

How do I start?

Let's talk about where you might connect, and how you think you could contribute to the development of these inspiring young leaders.  Thanks for your interest!
